Career Success Conference

What is the CSC?

The Career Success Conference (CSC) is a networking event designed to allow business and industry leaders to share their experiences and wisdom with today’s students. More specifically, the conference is designed to help students build the personal and professional capacities necessary for career success.  Our theme this year is Hindsight is 20/20.

Where is the CSC held?

The Career Success Conference is held on the campus of The University of Texas at Tyler.

Who is the Career Success Conference audience?

The audience for the Career Success Conference includes students from more than 80 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs.

What is the conference schedule?

Registration/Check-in 8:30am – 2:00pm Soules College of Business
Networking Breakfast 9:00am – 10:15am Soules College of Business
Session 1 10:45am – 12:00pm Multiple Campus Locations
Networking Lunch 12:15pm – 1:15pm Herrington Patriot Center Gym
Session 2 1:30pm – 2:45pm Multiple Campus Locations
Career Fair/Reception 3:00pm – 6:00pm Herrington Patriot Center Gym

What is the session format?

The duration of each conference session is 1 hour and 15 minutes. Concurrent breakout sessions will be taking place during these times. Breakout sessions will have 2-4 speakers.  Speakers will be paired with others from like industries or with similar presentation topics.  Each speaker should plan on speaking/presenting for approximately 15-20 minutes.  The breakout session length allows for a brief introduction by the session moderator, the presentation and a question and answer period. Speakers are asked to present during at least 2 conference sessions.

What amenities are available to conference speakers?

Valet parking – Valet parking is provided from 7:30 am – 9:00 pm at the Cowan Center main entrance.

Shuttle Service – Golf carts will be available to all conference speakers to transport them from session to session and throughout campus.

Speaker Lounge – Locations: University Center Ballroom and Soules College of Business Dean’s Suite

Available:      10:15 AM-11:30 AM

                        1:15 PM-2:30 PM

                        2:45 PM-5:30 PM            

Meals Provided: Breakfast, Lunch and Evening Reception

a.       Speaker Confirmation Deadline – June 30, 2020 – Speakers will confirm their participation in the Career Success Conference by uploading their personal information, bio, company logo, and headshot via the link below.

What is the focus of my presentation?

Speakers are asked to share their story of career success.  Speakers may also want to share personal successes that may have contributed to advancing their careers.

What if my presentation includes handouts?

Due to the large number of student attendees, speakers would need to provide their own handouts.  Number of handouts required can be supplied upon request closer to the day of the event.  You can contact the Office of Career Success for that information 903.565.5862.

What is the presenter responsible for?

a.       Transportation to and from venue
