Bria McCrory

Educator

Bria McCrory (formally Morris) is an East Texas native and U.T. Tyler alumna who graduated in the spring of 2019. Bria graduated with her bachelors in science degree majoring in Speech Communication and minored in history. After graduating, she moved to Houston to start her career as a seventh grade English Language Arts teacher within the Houston Independent School District.

Ending her first year in the classroom abruptly, due to Covid-19, she walked away from Houston Independent School District receiving the Champion Teacher Award, as well as, the Owlstanding Educator Award from Rice University in Houston. Bria got an amazing opportunity to become a teacher within Katy Independent School District shortly after leaving Houston. Teaching the same subject and grade level as before, During the past school year, Bria was given opportunities to sponsor leadership groups on campus. She was nominated and a finalist for Teacher of the Year by the student body, colleagues, and members of the community. On top of the responsibilities within her campus, she is also in the Rising Leader program for the Texas Council of Teachers of English Language Arts, entering a graduate program with the University of Houston-Victoria campus, and a ministry leader within her church.
