David Williams is an engineering manager and licensed P.E. with Trane Technologies with a decade of experience in specification and evaluation of sourced components specializing in motors, magnetic and branch circuit controls, and sensing technologies. Throughout his career, David has stepped through roles of increasing responsibility from intern to manager. Originally from the East Texas area, David started his career as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the US Navy. After 5 years of traveling the Pacific Ocean, he transitioned out of the military to start his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree at University of Texas at Tyler. Between sophomore and junior year, David joined Trane as a COOP working in the electronic controls lab building test fixtures and running electrical and environmental stress testing. After graduation, David joined Trane Technologies in the component engineering organization, where he has spent the remaining time in his career working with component manufacturers to specify and qualify new designs, new technologies, and alternate sources for supply resilience and competition. He is an active member of the ASHRAE professional organization through involvement with the local chapter and technical committee membership. David is also still tied in with UT Tyler in the alumni organization and through sponsoring senior design projects.
