Dr. Teegarden is the former President and Co-Chief Executive Officer of Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals and Clinics in Tyler, Texas, an integrated health system now consisting of 650 clinicians and nine hospitals.

He received his undergraduate degree at Texas Christian University and his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch. He holds a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas, where he is an Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Management, teaching courses in leadership. His postgraduate training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology was completed at the Mayo Clinic and Baylor University Medical Center. He served in the United States Army as Chief of Gastroenterology at the Institute of Surgical Research at Brooke Army Medical Center where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.

Dr. Teegarden is Past President of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association and a past member of the Board of Trustees at Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University and the Board of Development at The University of Texas Medical Branch. He is a member of numerous professional societies and associations.

Dr. Teegarden’s clinical and administrative career spans more than 40 years. He is a certified executive coach assisting individuals, teams, and healthcare organizations to develop the skills and competencies for effective leadership and is a coaching consultant to the Texas Medical Board.
