Clinical Manager Pre-Op/PACU

UT Health East Texas- Midtown

Hi my name is Evan Newby, and I am the Clinical Manager for PREOP and PACU at UT Health East Texas- Midtown. I was born in Longview, TX so I have called this area home my entire life. I am married to my wife Makenzie, and a have a son named Gavin who is a year old.  I graduated with my Associated in Nursing in 2013, followed by my Bachelor in Nursing through UT Arlington in 2019. I moved to Tyler started my first job as a Registered Nurse with UTHealth, which was then called ETMC. Initially I worked in Cardiac IMC/ICU, then transitioned to PACU in 2014, and now am the Clinical Manager for that same PACU. The thing I like most about my job is making the little differences in people’s lives that add up to create big change. Working in surgical services allows you to see the immediate difference and impact you are having on people’s lives, and for that, I have great pride in my job. Even though I am now in management, my real calling is still patient care. I strive to make sure that patients are taken care of safely within the units I manage, and often times find myself working in the unit alongside the bedside staff. As a leadership team we have built a model around service leadership, and I think it really makes a difference to those that work with you, and for you. I believe that we should all continue to grow and learn every day. Whether it is personal interaction, or opening a textbook there is always something you can gain. In the near future I am planning to get either my Masters in Business Administration, or Masters in Nursing Administration. There are slightly different things that you can accomplish with each one, and just like many perspective students I am having to find what my long term career goal is and the best way to achieve that.
