Jadwiga Walters
Director of Bilingual/ESL Programs
Chapel Hill ISD

Born in Mexico City, growing up between two countries within three different cultures and languages (German/Mexican/American); I am now working with the passion I carry in my heart and in what I look forward to doing every day. I started out thinking my path was in the medical area, life decided to take me on a different route. The route of education. My parent’s main focus for me was always my education, and life took me straight there. I taught middle school and high school students for 6 years, was an assistant principal at a middle school for one year, then life took me to my next step in administration. I worked for 6 years in the Bilingual/ESL Programs training administrators in Texas Law for English Learners, working on educating the needs of English learners. This year in 2022, I have been honored to finally have met my goal, becoming a Director of the Bilingual/ESL Programs in Chapel Hill ISD. Within this position, not only have I been able to train Principals and higher administration of the needs of English learners, but the best part is being the “bridge” between our school district and our families. Being able to network and bringing our families free resources that are available in our community has been the best part of my job. The best part of your job has to do with what your passion is. Mine has always been educating, and now I get to educate students, teachers, administrators, and our parents. I get to share and open minds to what people’s needs are and finding ways to meet those needs. You will never feel like you’re working when you’re carrying out your passion every day. The connections that we have and make on this earth are the most important. Ask yourselves what is YOUR passion, and what would you like to do every day that helps YOUR community in the midst of it?
