Jason Carter-Mead is the RN Clinical Manager for the UT Health Long-Term Acute Care Hospital in Tyler, TX. Jason truly believes in the mission statement of UT Health, which states, “Our purpose is to care for our patients, their families, and each other.” Jason is responsible for overseeing the clinical nursing staff of the LTAC Hospital. He works with multiple departments within the UT Health System to ensure best practice, safety, and care for patients as well as the nursing staff. Jason has been a nurse for 22 years. He began his career as an LVN in 2000, when UT Health was known as ETMC Tyler, on a very busy medical-surgical/orthopedic floor. Throughout his career as an LVN, Jason worked to hone his skills to provide the most comprehensive and empathic care to his patients. His passion, you could say, is ensuring that each patient, regardless of race, culture, or socioeconomic background, receives the same great care. He has been recognized by hundreds of patients over the last 22 years as providing exceptional care. Jason is an Alumni of the UT Tyler School of Nursing where he attended from 2012 to 2014 and earned his Bachelors of Science in Nursing. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Pi National Society for Leadership and Success. He is currently attending Walden University where he expects to graduate in 2023 with his Masters in Nursing as a Nurse Executive. Jason has trained and brought up dozens of new nurses over the years and believes strongly that the best advocates for nurses are fellow nurses. It is this reason that Jason has entered into hospital leadership as a Clinical Manager. Although challenging, being in leadership has provided him with the satisfaction of knowing that by making the environment better for nurses he is improving the environment for this patients, as well. Jason is married to his husband Martin for the past 6 years and has three cats, Bandit, Safari, and Zena. He is an avid traveler and hiker and has so far visited 10 other countries and counting. Jason grew up in Mount Pleasant, TX but has called Tyler his home for over 20 years.
