Jerry Ashworth

Senior Vice President & Chief Executive Officer

An accomplished healthcare executive, Jerry A. Ashworth has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare administration. Jerry joined Memorial Hermann Katy and Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospitals as Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer in September 2020. Jerry is passionate about the Memorial Hermann acute care hospitals’ missions to provide high quality care and an exceptional patient experience close to home for our communities.

Jerry first joined Memorial Hermann in 2014, serving in numerous leadership roles and eventually as Senior Vice President & Chief Executive Officer at TIRR Memorial Hermann, one of the nation’s top-ranked rehabilitation hospitals, and the Memorial Hermann Rehab Network. Prior to joining Memorial Hermann, Jerry served as Administrative Director for Trinity Mother Frances Hospitals & Clinics in Tyler, Texas. He received his bachelor’s degree from Le Tourneau University, a master’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Texas at Tyler and a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University.

Additionally, Jerry is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and board certified in healthcare management. He is a graduate of the Center for Houston’s Future Leadership Forum, an organization that guides emerging and proven leaders to a new understanding of and a new sense of personal accountability for the future of the region. He is also graduate of the American Leadership Forum (ALF), Class XLI. The ALF program focuses on the principles of a different kind of leadership that empowers Fellows to envision effective solutions and take coordinated action to address the community’s pressing issues.

Aside from his professional background, Jerry is also active in the community including serving as a member of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Katy Area Economic Development Council Board of Governors and Christ Clinic Board of Directors. He also served on the Houston Mayor’s Commission Against Gun Violence. The commission’s goal is to improve gun safety in schools, neighborhoods and communities through action on the local, state and federal levels. Jerry can often be seen rounding on patient floors at Memorial Hermann Katy and Cypress Hospitals, helping patients, families and visitors feel welcome and personally connected to the hospital leadership team.

His leadership style demonstrates a high level of engagement with staff and physicians, and a deep understanding of the goals of the patients we serve.
