Dr. Gavan immigrated to Riverside, California from Romania with her family in 1991 and completed her public education from elementary to undergraduate level (at Riverside Community College) before going back to Romania to complete her graduate studies. She received a Doctor of Medicine, a Bachelor’s of Science aggregately with a Master’s of Science from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy  Carol Davila, Bucharest, Romania in 2011.   She began working at University of California Riverside, School of Medicine in 2014 as a clinical instructor and shortly thereafter became clinical faculty. Her passion for medical education and teaching is evident in her commitment to medical students, centered in their learning, development, and growth. Her most recent accomplishments include representing UCR SOM as Center Leader for Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians (BNGAP) and as Executive Member of The California Consortium for the Assessment of Clinical Competence (CCACC).  Recently, Dr. Gavan embarked on a new academic journey joining UT Tyler SOM as Assistant Dean of Clinical Competence and Integration. Her aspiration is to collaborate with fellow UT medical schools in starting a Texas consortium for clinical competence.
