Smittee Root is the Executive Director for Leadership Tyler, a non-profit organization serving the Tyler area by providing programs that focus on developing and equipping leaders so that they can enrich the Tyler area community and continue to make it even better.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from The University of Texas at Tyler and spent the first fifteen years of her career working for a national manufacturing firm where she served in various marketing, customer service and employee development roles. Smittee has completed numerous leadership and communication training programs including being a member of Leadership Tyler Class 21.

She continued her connection with Leadership Tyler by serving on the Board of Directors, including Board President. In 2017 she was honored to be selected to participate in Leadership Texas. She says “Leadership Tyler helped her connect with her community and has fostered her love of Tyler and all it has to offer” especially its people.

Smittee and her husband Brad have four children ages 27 to 18.
