Sue Shartzer
Environmental Scientist
Lloyd Engineering

Over 15 years of accomplished experience in education and science fields, Sue Shartzer has spent a decade developing her role as an Environmental Scientist. Her responsibilities proliferate from the typical scientist’s job description, to serve public and private stakeholders. While she assists with the complexities of permitting and compliance, she applies her focuses toward technical writing and marketing outreach interests. A broad knowledge and expansive background, she has honed her skills in professional communications, technical writing and business development for diverse audiences. Sue responsively addresses stakeholders’ needs and effectively collaborates with her team.  Ms. Shartzer did not delineate a linear career trajectory, beginning with the typical four-year degree and ending with the dream job opportunity. Instead, she spent a decade serving in the hospitality industry while raising a young family. With determination and perseverance at age 30, she began her post-secondary educational pursuits with Houston Community College and the University of Houston. For six-and-a-half years, she worked full time yet earned a science degree from each institution. Fueled by ambition on the cusp of 40, she returned to education for a master’s degree. For Sue, education is an opportunity to overcome life’s obstacles.
